Information for Individual Applicants

In preparing your application, please bear in mind that the GMCTF has very limited funds. It rarely awards more than GBP £7,000 to any individual, and that the average grant is significantly less than this. The GMCTF acts largely to help those who already have funds from other sources, but who face shortfalls in funding. The GMCTF cannot consider applications from individuals for amounts over £10,000, and such applications will be automatically discarded.

To be eligible for consideration for a GMCTF grant, you should:

  • have completed a first degree;

  • have achieved in that degree a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.3 out of 4.0, or a minimum of an upper second class degree (2.1), or equivalent international qualifications;

  • have good written and spoken English and provide evidence of a good score in a recognised English language test (e.g., IELTS or TOEFL);

  • approach two referees who can comment on your suitability for the award of a GMCTF grant, and ask each referee to send their comments on your application to the GMCTF by the due date;

  • provide information on the total annual cost of your chosen course, including all tuition and bench fees and maintenance costs, the source(s) of alternative funds, as well as the sum requested from the GMCTF;

  • be a national of South Sudan or Sudan;

  • provide information on your visa status; and

  • demonstrate that your chosen course will enable you to contribute to the skills base of South Sudan or Sudan, and demonstrate your intention to return to South Sudan or Sudan after your studies.

Before starting to fill in the application form, please read carefully through the form and the information available on this website.  The Trust's selection criteria are described below.  The FAQs may help you to clarify the matters about which you are uncertain.
