Information for Referees

You will have been directed to these pages by a student or an organisation as they have asked for your support in their application for a grant for the academic year 2024-25 from the Gordon Memorial College Trust Fund.

Please note that the student or organisation will not be considered for a grant without the relevant letters of recommendation.

The applicant or organisation for whom you are submitting a reference should have told you their application number. Please ensure that the file your send is named in the following way: number-firstname-lastname. For example, 20230001-John-Smith.pdf.

Once you have completed the information in the form below, you can send the reference electronically to secretary@gmctf.org or send it to the address at the bottom of this page.

Please ensure that your reference is on departmental or official letterhead and arrives by 10th March 2024 at the latest.

If you are providing a reference for an organisation:

Please ensure that your reference includes details of the following:

  • your standing in relation to the organisation;

  • the viability of the proposed activity or project;

  • your opinion of the importance of this activity or project for South Sudan or Sudan; and

  • the proposed budget for the activity/project.

If you are providing a reference for an individual:

Please ensure that your reference includes details of the following:

  • the suitability and aptitude of the student for the course;

  • the quality of their work, if known to you;

  • the financial position of the student, and their need for a grant from the GMCTF;

  • the student's proficiency in English in relation to the course; and

  • information on the student's plans to return to South Sudan/Sudan on completion of the course.
